Welcome to my Gardening Section

This section will be evolving, growing, expanding as I and my gardens do. I have a lot of things that I am involved with, care about and/or am interested in. This page will be my “Hub” for those interests.

When I lived in Alaska, I hired a gardener who planted and tended to my moon garden (all white night blooming beauties) and few perennials. I never thought I would be a gardener.

I was an herbalist in Alaska, having the pleasure to learn under Janice Schofield back in the early 90’s. My medicine chest had balms and tinctures, not pills and prescriptions.

The summer of 2015, I moved to the Big Island of Hawaii and used Hawaiian plant medicine to assist in my battle against cancer. I used a combination of Eastern, Hawaiian and Western medicine. I have been cancer free since the spring of 2019, my stories are here on this site.

I had the book “Medicine at your feet” by David Bruce Leonard for several years prior to being blessed by the chance to study with David for a while. This has taken me on a wonderful part of my Hawaiian studies, honoring the land, the ‘Aina. Many of the plants we studied I had used.

The summer of 2025 I had an opportunity to move onto a piece of property that afforded me the space to learn to grow and learn about the local food. There were mature fruit trees on the property with which I was able to learn with/from. I had space to do my own thing and I took a class on growing Living Lettuce Hydroponically. It has been an amazing journey that continues to bless me.
